Longridge Then and Now 1

My, how things change! The postcard dates from the 1940s, I believe. Sadly the hedgerow on the left has gone and the cyclist just down the road looks to have had the road very much to himself. These days, the road can be a race track during the evening. A car that went by the other night much have been doing eighty miles per hour - outrageous! The properties on the left are Apsley House, Beechwood and Brock House, while the large house on the right is for sale and . . . has been for at least a couple of years. Perhaps it is the price that puts people off. I tried to get an exact comparison shot, but a dog on the lead and fast traffic meant I had to be quick. Click on each image in turn to enlarge them.
