A Windy Day on the Fell!

You don't realise how windy it is until you walk from Jeffrey Hill through Thornley Hill Fell to the trig point (350 metres above sea level) at Spire Hill. It was all right going with the wind behind you but coming back, it was another story!

I was amazed at the spectacular aerobatics and cries of the Curlews on Jeffrey Hill and the brightness of the White painted trig point. I wonder who decorates the latter? Every so often, the mechanical sounds of the Chipping Steam Fair could be heard. Remember to click once, and then again, for a closer look at each photograph..

The large white mass, towards the top right, is the massed marquees of the Chipping Steam Fair

The path alongside the stone wall en route to Spire Hill.
At last, the white-painted trig point on Spire Hill comes into view.
